THE PROJECT - David Lloyd

This project compromises nearly seven years of photography in East Africa, collating the best of those images to sixty, with an even split between black & white and colour.

I will receive a 25 page e-book lite version of the book plus a hi-res desktop wallpaper of one of the images appearing in the book.

A percentage of the sales of the book will be donated to Born Free, a charity dedicated to the cause of keeping wildlife in the wild, rescuing vulnerable animals from lives of misery in tiny cages, and halting the race to extinction by protecting rare species in their natural habitat.

A new monthly science magazine project was put on Kickstarter, which is created and published by Roz Evans. She's got a 1st class degree from the University of Exeter's Cornwall Campus, in Conservation Biology and Ecology.

I am interested in the Biosphere Magazine because it is created by
trained Conservation scientists with a passion for communicating science.

Twilight Struggle Digital Edition

Yes, Yes! Bring on the digital revolution!
I am so excited that they have decided to digitise one of the best 2 player board games in existence - Their Kickstarter is a great project!

Twilight Struggle
inherits its fundamental systems from the card-driven classics We the People and Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage. In that tradition, it is a challenging strategy game of medium complexity that presents new and different challenges with every game session. The game map is a world map of the period, whereon players move units and exert influence in attempts to gain allies and control for their superpower. As with GMT's other card-driven games, decision-making is a challenge; how to best use one's cards and units given consistently limited resources?

Twilight Struggle's Event cards add detail and flavor to the game. They cover a vast array of historical happenings, from the Arab-Israeli conflicts of 1948 and 1967, to Vietnam and the U.S. peace movement, to the Cuban Missile Crisis and other such incidents that brought the world to the brink of nuclear annihilation. Subsystems capture the prestige-laden Space Race as well as nuclear tensions, with the possibility of game-ending nuclear war.

By moving to digital platforms, players will have more freedom playing the game than the physical board game allows. The digital version will include a game tutorial to help players understand the game fairly quickly, AI opponents to allow you to sharpen your skills, pass-and-play multiplayer, and both asynchronous and real-time online play so you always have a way to fit playing time in!

Imagine building your own world and inhabit them with your own people. Play like a god over a universe with many worlds. Imagine Civ5 on steroids and Galaxy Trader mixed with Sim City building strategy. All in one game? - Well.. here it is .. it is called The Universim
Picture
The Universim is a next generation Planet Management God - Game in development by Crytivo Games and designed by Alex Koshelkov.

The Universim aims to unleash you upon the universe with the powers of a god to begin forging your galactic empire in the stars. The ability to play as a god gives you unparalleled power, but unlike other god-games, you cannot interact directly with your population in the game. However, you can influence their decisions and change the way in which your civilization evolves. It is up to you to decide which technology path they follow and what kind of research they undertake-you have the power to shape their future. Instead of taking control of a static game world that awaits your every command, life will go on as you would expect. You are effectively taking control of a living simulation.

(Dis)Honesty project

The truth is, we all lie - and by "we," we mean everyone!
A well functioning society relies on mutual trust. When public trust begins to erode, the regular order can fall apart. This project hopes to encourage greater understanding  for human flaws and suggest ways we can all improve our behavior to strengthen the society we live in.
Picture
I came across this Kickstarter Project when browsing the staff picks. I was intrigued by the subject.

The film “(Dis)Honesty – The Truth About Lies” examines the human tendency to be dishonest, it seems to be a regular part of the world we live in and the news we read. But the truth is that beneath the surface of the scandalous headlines, cheating is not just happening on a newsworthy scale, it’s happening in small ways everywhere. Yael Melamede and Dan Ariely from Salty Feature Productions are to explore this further.
Picture
From ticket-fixing in our police departments to test-score scandals in our schools, from our elected leaders’ extra-marital affairs to financial schemes undermining our economy, dishonesty seems to be a ubiquitous part of the news. But it’s not just true in the headlines – we ALL cheat.

Migration the Game

Sometimes you come across a game concept that is just beautiful. This game was offered on Kickstarter as a entertaining game and well designed learning tool, and the art is just so polished. I still haven't got a full idea how this game works, but it it looks too beautiful to pass it by. I really wanted to be a part of it and become an owner of it. Especially as it is offered as an educational, factual game.
Migration is a unique, area-control, fantasy game where 'nations' vie for valuable New World territory over generations of conquest

Back Story
By the hundreds, creatures are emigrating from the Old World in search of hope and prosperity. The New World offers endless opportunity, but only to those who arrive first. In this clever game, players seek out territories to conquer and compete for the most fertile properties, making critical decisions to gain the advantage.
Migration is a land-grabbing game in which players play unique pieces on a board in order to claim territory. Each piece is treated differently, ignores certain rules or creates new conditions according to its type. Players continue to settle in regions while remaining careful to not upset opponents, walk into traps or restrict one's own growth options.

There is a full (Early Draft) PNP available
.
It seems simple enough, and it is, but there's a real depth to each decision and no two games play the same.

Cheesonomics: A Cheesy Card Game

3/2/2014

Cheese. I always think of the Monty Python Cheese Shop Sketch when I hear someone mention cheese. Now here is a the game of Cheesonomics made by Eagle Gryphon.
What is Cheesonomics?
Cheesonomics is a cheesy original card game for 2-5 players ages 8 and up that takes about 20-30 minutes to play.  It is a strategic set collecting, memory-based, hand management card game based on controlling and manipulating the supply and demand of various types of cheese from cheese markets throughout North America or Europe.
  • Churn the right colors or animal types of cheese from opponents' hands to seize the supply of cheese!
  • Produce the market's most demanded colors of cheese to milk the most profit!
  • Sell the most of each kind of animal cheese to secure end game bonuses and earn the most curd cash by selling different colors of produced cheese at high market prices!
Cheesonomics was designed to celebrate the cheese industry and leading producers of cheese. They have a Facebook Page too.
Each cheese-producing country or state has a unique pride about its world class product, and so we intend to encourage this friendly competition through the production of both the North American and European editions of Cheesonomics.  Both editions feature red, yellow, orange, blue, green, cow, sheep, goat, yak and reindeer cheese, but with different states or countries spotlighted from which they can be produced and sold.
