A new monthly science magazine project was put on Kickstarter, which is created and published by Roz Evans. She's got a 1st class degree from the University of Exeter's Cornwall Campus, in Conservation Biology and Ecology. I am interested in the Biosphere Magazine because it is created by trained Conservation scientists with a passion for communicating science. They also have a website called BIOSPHERE. Practicing academics and professionals, students and enthusiasts subscribe to BIOSPHERE for the latest scientific discoveries from the natural world. If you like to stay up to date with zoology, evolution, conservation and behaviour in an exciting, energetic and informative way - this magazine and online news resource is just it.
How could I not back this game? With a title like this you'd expect the worst and are looking to get a truly abysmal game. A card game embracing everything one could hate about games, gaming & gamers created to be silly but turned out to be a fun little game
I am so excited that they have decided to digitise one of the best 2 player board games in existence - Their Kickstarter is a great project! Twilight Struggle inherits its fundamental systems from the card-driven classics We the People and Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage. In that tradition, it is a challenging strategy game of medium complexity that presents new and different challenges with every game session. The game map is a world map of the period, whereon players move units and exert influence in attempts to gain allies and control for their superpower. As with GMT's other card-driven games, decision-making is a challenge; how to best use one's cards and units given consistently limited resources? Twilight Struggle's Event cards add detail and flavor to the game. They cover a vast array of historical happenings, from the Arab-Israeli conflicts of 1948 and 1967, to Vietnam and the U.S. peace movement, to the Cuban Missile Crisis and other such incidents that brought the world to the brink of nuclear annihilation. Subsystems capture the prestige-laden Space Race as well as nuclear tensions, with the possibility of game-ending nuclear war. By moving to digital platforms, players will have more freedom playing the game than the physical board game allows. The digital version will include a game tutorial to help players understand the game fairly quickly, AI opponents to allow you to sharpen your skills, pass-and-play multiplayer, and both asynchronous and real-time online play so you always have a way to fit playing time in!
This Kickstarter project is about a short film to showcase the daring and futuristic world of their planned feature length sci-fi thriller 'I-VOLUTION'. The Story: A brilliant but obsessed scientist finds himself on the brink of creating the world’s first artificial intelligence in this provocative and visceral sci-fi/suspense film from Mojo Road Entertainment. In the not too distant future, while creating the EVE Residence--a super computer operated ‘smart home’--Bionetic’s scientist COLIN DARROWAY discovers a way to link himself to the computer in hopes of creating the world’s first human-computer singularity. A symbiosis of man and machine that promises to accelerate the computer to artificial intelligence level and launch humanity to unbelievable heights. Movie Inspirations & Influences: 2001: A Space Odyssey; Star Wars; Her; Soylent Green
An animated short film about a man's collapsing sanity, featuring the voices of Paul Giamatti, Jason Mantzoukas, and Kate McKinnon GIANT SLOTH is a surrealist tale drawing as much on influences like Fellini and (the main character's namesake) Luis Buñuel as it does animation from the 1960s and 70s. I backed this Kickstarter project on the basis of Paul Giamatti starring. He is one of my favourite actors and he has deadpan humour. The Story The museum where Gordon Boonewell works - The Benchley Museum of Cultural and Natural History - has fallen on hard times. Attendance is down and they've been in the red for ages. So it's no surprise when the museum privatizes... no surprise to anyone other than Gordon. But Gordon is a curator of the past, a man set in his ways. Ways that are being systematically erased, dumping him into a world he's willfully ignored. Unable to cope with the upheaval alone, Gordon begins to suffer hallucinations. Or at least he hopes they're hallucinations... About Scandinavia and the World: It started in 2009 by the artist known as Humon, a comical look at how countries humanise one another and has grown to over 300 comic strips. About the Animations:
Scandinavia and the World will be brought to life in these funny, thoughtful, and somewhat educational animations, voiced by Stanton Nichols (and others) and beautifully animated by Stephen Leotti. On their website and YouTube channel My Misirlou (Egyptian girl/woman), your sweet glance Has lit a flame in my heart. Ah, ya habibi, ah, ya le-leli, ah (Arabic: Oh, my love, Oh, my night) Your two lips are dripping honey, ah. Ah, Misirlou, magical, exotic beauty. Madness will overcome me, I can't endure [this] any more. Ah, I'll steal you away from the Arab land. My crazy, black-eyed Misirlou, My life changes with one kiss Ah, ya habibi, one little kiss, ah From your sweet little mouth, ah. Source: Wikipedia This Kickstarter project had all the promises I wanted to hear and see from an indie filmmaker. Misirlou the Movie has got it all; Sex, Drugs, Sunshine, Violence, Morality, PTSD and the search for ... what ever... everything. The whole thing is one LSD Trip with some sober moments. You can't help to get endeared by the initial acting, which get slightly better over time.
The main feature here is the 'colour' it is filmed in and the music used. The music piece called Misirlou is made famous to the 90's generation in Pulp Fiction as performed by Dick Dale. Imagine building your own world and inhabit them with your own people. Play like a god over a universe with many worlds. Imagine Civ5 on steroids and Galaxy Trader mixed with Sim City building strategy. All in one game? - Well.. here it is .. it is called The Universim The Universim is a next generation Planet Management God - Game in development by Crytivo Games and designed by Alex Koshelkov.
The Universim aims to unleash you upon the universe with the powers of a god to begin forging your galactic empire in the stars. The ability to play as a god gives you unparalleled power, but unlike other god-games, you cannot interact directly with your population in the game. However, you can influence their decisions and change the way in which your civilization evolves. It is up to you to decide which technology path they follow and what kind of research they undertake-you have the power to shape their future. Instead of taking control of a static game world that awaits your every command, life will go on as you would expect. You are effectively taking control of a living simulation. Call me nostalgic, old fashioned or retro.. I don't care. I have a weak spot for pixelated fanatsy games, Castlevania, Zelda, Metroid.. early Final Fantasy. I just lap it up. So when I saw the Heart Forth, Alica project on Kickstarter I knew this was my chance to play part in developing one of those (in my mind) epic games. "Heart Forth, Alicia".. ..is a '90s-inspired Metroidvania RPG about a young wizard on her journey to stop a Spirit from consuming her homeland.
At Heart Forth, Alicia's core is an ode to the classics. Remember the electrifying gameplay of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, the expansive worlds of the Zelda games, and the rich, engaging story of Xenogears? This game is crafted in the spirit of those great adventures of the '90s. The story unfolds amidst the repercussions of centuries worth of struggle, strife, and bloodshed between cultures, races and worldviews. But above all else, it's an epic Metroidvania RPG that combines timeless 16- and 32-bit gameplay, modern mechanics, and a set of unique, intertwining stories to take you on a fantastic journey |
